Downtown with Rae Spoon

While walking along Stephen Avenue, we spotted singer/songwriter Rae Spoon, who was in town for the TransCanada Alberta Music Series. Actually it was his monogrammed leather flap backpack and fur flap hat that caught our eye.

While the Weather Changes, Our Emotions Remain the Same

A while back I spent a cold afternoon in Regina with Kristina and Vanessa from Rah Rah. We had tea, laughed at cats, forced a cat to play the keyboard, and managed to have a photo shoot in a house with a broken furnace.

You can also view the pictures in our BHU Look Book.

Sneak-A-Peek Pictures with Never Mind the BS

BHU was able to collaborate with Never Mind The BS on a photo shoot and we learned that we all love Yo Gabba Gabba! ahahahha. We took some pictures that are outta control and snapped away to dubstep and house music the whole photo shoot.

Sheena and Bianca are the main contributors of Never Mind the BS, and they have some rad interviews (Steve Aoki, Yoji, Smalltown Romeo) on their site so be sure to check them out! They mostly interview DJ’s and musicians but they’ve also interviewed Bob Saget! Yes, Full House!

Shout-outs to Bianca and Sheena for bringing a lot of energy to the photo shoot, and to Vernon for rad styling.

Rah Rah: Year-Round Holiday Style

Rah Rah just returned from their American tour with Minus the Bear, and in honour of their travels we are dedicating this post to them. We’ll not just cause they’re an awesome band, but also cause they tend to wear Christmas sweaters all year round. HAHA! That’s why we love them. :) If you’ve ever heard their music you’re in for a party! They love incorporating candy and confetti guns into their music, and they’re known for their socially awkward humour.

Rah Rah this post is for you because it’s six days until Christmas and you rep the Christmas sweater all year round, just like the Mad Hatter reps birthdays year-round with his unbirthday parties.

Kristina, collector of random instruments and typewriters, and her buddy.

Vanessa and Erin rockin’ the CBC all night long.

Online Beauty: The Wilderness Downtown by Arcade Fire + Google

This is kind of not related, but it is completely exciting and innovative we had to share it. The Wilderness Downtown is a website offering a music/film experience by Arcade Fire and the team of Google. It brings a whole new level to the online experience and truly opens up a whole new spectrum of online creativity.  You must view it using Google Chrome but go download Google Chrome because it is totally worth it! The experience features “We Used to Wait” by Arcade Fire, and everything about the website is beautiful, emotional, and memorable.  The whole time I was watching the film I was smiling and it brought me to tears because it goes above and beyond what is out there in terms of creativity and beauty (but truth be told, we are also tech geeks). Props to the designers and creators of the Wilderness Downtown!

So go download Google Chrome, and head to http://www.thewildernessdowntown.com/
