KRUHX: Provoking Honesty

Boyhood Uniformity presents “KRUHX: Provoking Honesty”, a short documentary interview on KRUHX and the amazing creative chemistry behind their inspiring editorials. KRUHX shows us that fashion goes beyond trends – it is an art and an expression of inspiration. KRUHX was gracious enough to give us behind-the-scenes access to their Bleach photo shoot. To check out the images from the editorial go to kruhx.com.

This was our first documentary interview ever, and it was full of trials and errors. So feel free to give us feedback as we have plenty of room to grow and learn. We’re going to be honest, it was a lot of work, way more than photo shoots, but that’s likely due to noob skills and software. The result is exactly how I envisioned it – everything was worth it. Videos are definitely very expensive and requires a lot of time, but I would never regret getting involved with this. The whole process of creating this documentary was very long, and experimental; I was learning a lot as I went along. I have learned way more than I ever expected and now I watch movies with a new perspective ie. I pay way more attention to lighting and sound. It’s always challenging to push yourself into something entirely new, but the knowledge and experience you gain from it is worth it. I have bonded and built a deeper relationship with KRUHX because the interview calls for them to open up and for me to intentionally listen. It really requires both sides to open up and it is so amazing to hear the words that are shared during an interview. Be sure to follow KRUHX on their journey for creativity, because there is no doubt of their talent.

Style Nine to Five: Connecting Fashionistas with Dream Jobs

We were recently featured in a blog post by Style Nine to Five about Alberta bloggers! Aww Yeah! Style Nine to Five is everything about fashion from blogging to advice, news to networking, but their main focus is being a fashion employment provider.

Our favorite thing about them is that they offer opportunities for everything and everyone in fashion; whether it’s for big fashion retailers like Aritzia or Hugo Boss, or the little boutiques – they are connecting everyone in the fashion community. This is especially critical for the local and independent creatives who do not have the resources or capabilities to look for qualified workers. Style Nine to Five broadens the networks and provides opportunities for those who may not realize how to get connected with the Fashion community.

At Boyhood Uniformity, we will support anything that supports the little guys!

The Girl With the Pattern Tattoo

Brook Fung, the creative mind behind Peeko Apparel, is a regular staple of Market Collective – she’s become synonymous with the Market Collective brand. In a small fashion community like Calgary, her brand is really easy to distinguish – turbans, piercings, and tattoos – noting that all of these come in plurals.  That being said, she’s a creative soul on her own. She explores form, fabric, and the combination of patterns.

According to her Etsy, Peeko Apparel is “Upcycled Apparel Eco Conscious Clothing”. Peeko Apparel is entirely designed and created by Brook herself, and she’s making herself known in Calgary.

CUBIST – Gold Brass Geometric Cubes and Square Necklace is our favorite Peeko Apparel accessory.

Black and White Formalities

Our favorite trio, KRUHX, starting a movement and making changes, while looking fierce.  Kruhx is Garrett, Yana, and Jordan – three people who will change how you create.
